A teacher is one who prepares a student for challenges in life. In the young, impressionable years of a student, teachers play an important role to mould and shape talents. Marking the birth anniversary of the first Vice-President and the second President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan each year Indian students pay respect to their teachers by displaying their gratitude.

As a good teacher not only imparts knowledge but also inspires, encourages and ignites curiosity in students to think and act, honouring the occasion, Apeejay School, Rama Mandi in Jalandhar thanked their teaching faculty for their selfless contribution.

By organising a cultural extravaganza, the student council appreciated the unwavering commitment of their teachers’ vision and mission for the school. The programme started with the auspicious lamp lighting ceremony by the principal, Ms. Sangeeta Nistandra. This was followed by melodious renditions of songs and dance performances by students which enthralled the audience. A skit depicting the struggle of a teacher during online classes, her grit and determination for constant facilitation of quality education left everyone in awe. Bhangra at the end of the event came as a spellbinding surprise for the audience.

A special message by Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia, President, Apeejay Education, on the occasion of Teachers Day, was also shared by the school principal. To mark the day, an oath was administered by teachers where they pledged to remain dedicated and devoted to their role. Ms. Nistandra further addressed the teachers and motivated them to continue fulfilling their responsibilities for shaping not just their students but enlightening the youth of the country. She said, “One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feelings. The curriculum has so much necessary raw material, but warmth is the vital element for a growing plant as well as the soul of a child.”

Apeejay School, Noida commemorated the day by organising a virtual fanfare. Students expressed their heartfelt gratitude to their teachers through soulful invocation, dance followed by heartfelt tributes to faculty members. Students paid their special tribute to Mr. Malay, a teacher with unsurpassed enthusiasm and relentless efforts, whom the school lost due to Covid-19.

Middle and senior school students delivered an eloquent talk highlighting the beliefs of Dr. Radhakrishnan and how every teacher is an embodiment of these beliefs. A scintillating dance performance and poetry rendition lent a spirit of joy to the proceedings as teachers, too, sportingly participated in the fun games organised by students.

To acknowledge the contribution of teachers, primary school students danced to melodious songs emphasising the significance of having teachers in one’s life. Pre-primary school students dedicated quotes to their teachers and made short speeches about them. They amazed their class teacher by acting as a replica to them.

Words of wisdom were shared by Vice Principal, Mrs. Amrita Hajela and primary in-charge, Mrs. Smriti Samuel, highlighting the importance of self-motivation.

The celebrations concluded with the inspiring words of Principal AK Sharma. He commended the efforts of all the teachers, reiterating, “A teacher creates an ideal learning environment to ignite young minds and lead them on the correct path. A teacher’s success begins with the success of their students.”
