‘This school is like home for my kids’

One of her family members was already associated with Apeejay School, Greater Noida. When this parent sought admission for her daughter, she was happy with the admission criteria, environment, and the crowd. Also, the school was not overcrowded, and the mother felt that its environment would help shape her child’s behaviour properly. Meet Priyanka Yadav, whose two children (Iriska, now in Class III and Varchasva, now in senior KG) are studying here.

In a candid interview, she shares that since her daughter has been doing well in this school, she enrolled her son as well.

How has the school helped your children become independent and confident?

The school has played a very important role in their lives. Since my daughter joined at a young age, she learnt many things here, including appropriate behaviour and emotional attachment. The school is like a home for children. The teachers do not behave in a way that makes them feel scared. The Principal, teachers and other staff members are extremely cooperative and give their hundred per cent to every child. I am also satisfied with the safety provided by the school.

How has the school developed their communication skills and overall personality?

The school inculcates values in children and helps them develop stage confidence. It regularly conducts thematic assemblies, and my daughter has anchored several times. Every child is given an opportunity. The school does not select only one or two children repeatedly. Proper auditions are conducted before students are chosen for different activities. I appreciate this fair process.

How does the school make learning engaging for your son?

My son is presently in senior KG. The school follows a learning-by-doing approach and conducts several practical activities in the junior classes. Children are not placed under too much pressure, and lessons are taught through the play-way method. The teachers also encourage shy children and those who hesitate to speak to participate in stage activities.

Do your children participate in activities?

Both my children participate in skating at school, and they enjoy it very much. Recently, my son participated in an animal enactment activity. Each child played the role of an animal and learnt how it behaves and what it eats. My son also took part in Inter-school events and received a prize. My daughter recently secured a position in an Intra-school competition.

How would you describe the teachers’ contribution?

The teachers put a lot of effort into teaching the children, and this is clearly visible in their performance. Since nursery, my son has been taught by supportive teachers. My daughter has also received support from her teachers. They are all doing good work.

How does the school teach values to children?

The teachers do not scare the children. They inculcate values properly and use kind language to explain what is right and wrong. They give children several examples and use activities similar to drama to teach them about topics such as good touch and bad touch. Some lessons are taught theoretically, while others are explained through practical activities. Both methods are used to help children understand what is right and wrong.

Does your son enjoy going to school?

Yes, very much. Both my children enjoy going to school and participating in different activities. My son is a little naughty, but the teachers handle him well.
