Swami Vivekananda had once famously remarked that it is not clothing but character that makes one a gentleman. A person of sound character is one who knows how to behave and embodies grace in his/her actions. It is therefore essential that young minds learn the value of good manners so that they can effectively conduct themselves in the world.

A session on manners and etiquettes for pre-primary children was conducted at Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri recently.

Students learnt the correct way of both setting and sitting at the table. They also learnt certain basic etiquettes such as coming to the table after washing hands and face. Students further understood the use of a napkin and were taught how to sit straight at the table i.e. keeping elbows  off the table. Students were made to understand that one must chew the food multiple times and therefore not talk while eating. The little ones enjoyed learning how to clear the table by keeping their dishes away. They were encouraged to take the required amount of serving so as to not waste any food. They were also told not to be fussy about the food that was made. As a token of gratitude to the almighty, children were taught to express their thankfulness for the food and for the person who prepared it. The children thoroughly enjoyed the session and were encouraged to practice the values taught at home.

“Good manners are a critically important component for every individual in the society to possess and display. Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri being a mini society in itself, strives to develop them in kids since their inception.”

-Mr. Rudrendra Basak, Principal, Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri
