Science is the process that takes us from confusion to understanding

In education, thematic weeks dedicated to specific subjects like Science and Math Week, play a pivotal role in fostering a comprehensive learning environment. These specialised sessions are not just about enhancing academic knowledge; they also focus on holistic development, critical thinking, and practical application of theoretical concepts.

One of the significant benefits of such sessions is that they offer the opportunity for students to see the practical applications of what they learn in textbooks. Activities such as building models, conducting experiments, and solving real-world problems help students understand the relevance of science and math in everyday life.

Under the mentorship of Mr AK Sharma, the Principal of the school, and Ms Aarti Shorey Bhat, the Vice-principal, the Science and Mathematics Department of Apeejay School, Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, recently hosted a remarkable exhibition celebrating creativity, innovation, and reasoning. The event began with Ms Aarti Shorey Bhat, accompanied by the dedicated teaching staff, inaugurating the exhibition through a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony.

Following the inauguration, the teachers toured the exhibition, appreciating the diligent efforts of students from classes VI to X. With over 50 entries, the exhibition featured an impressive array of static and working models, including a hydraulic lift, earthquake alarm, rainwater harvesting system, neuron structure, green shades for skyscrapers, hydroponic farming, Chandrayaan, angles, algebraic formulas, Pythagoras Theorem, drip irrigation, and the solar system.

The focus of the exhibition was to ignite a passion for science among students by encouraging hands-on involvement. The young Apeejayites showcased their creativity using low-cost, eco-friendly materials and waste products. The exhibition not only highlighted the students’ innovative projects but also provided them with a platform to confidently present their ideas to parents.

In her address, Ms Bhat commended the collaborative efforts of students and teachers. She praised the students for fostering scientific curiosity and emphasised the importance of such events in boosting students’ confidence amidst rapidly evolving scientific advancements. She also expressed gratitude to Principal Mr AK Sharma for his visionary leadership and to the teachers, students, and parents for making the exhibition a resounding success.

Overall, the event was a day of knowledge and discovery for all involved.
