Abhinav Singh, an alumnus of Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC) with a background in Television and Radio Journalism, has transitioned from being a photography enthusiast to making significant strides in video editing and technologies. At present, serving as a Video Editor at Nishta Dhawani, Abhinav’s inspiring journey is a testament to his unwavering dedication to the realms of visual storytelling through photography and the intricate world of video editing. His commitment reflects a desire to stay at the forefront of multimedia innovation and storytelling.

In a candid interview, Abhinav talks about how AIMC has played a pivotal role in fostering his growth and proficiency.

I’m a sociable individual, who loves to seek active interactions. At present, I am working with Nishta Dhawani, a religious YouTube Channel, where my role centers around video editing and creating posters. I pursued a course in TV and Radio Journalism from AIMC, laying the foundation for my skills in multimedia production and storytelling.

Definitely, this college was the most appropriate pick which has helped me shape my career. Whatever I have become and achieved today, I owe it to all the exceptional teachers and my peers at the college, who helped me grow into a better person and have a fulfilling career.

Initially, I started my career in photography. But I soon realised the growing demand for videography, I felt compelled to explore this dynamic field. Moving ahead with this idea of expanding my skills, I decided to not only refine my photography expertise but also venture into video editing.

The most common challenge that I have faced in my career journey has been the issue of receiving comparatively lower compensation. With each project contributing to my professional growth and financial stability, slowly I am navigating this hurdle, steadily working towards achieving a more balanced and rewarding financial landscape in my career.

It is imperative to stay updated with the ongoing trends. I keep myself updated on various industry pages for the latest information. Moreover, I also exchange ideas and have discussions with my friends who are in the same field. At times, I also scroll LinkedIn to gain better insights regarding the same.

There were several such memories from my college life — the industry visit, the Diwali fest along with annual fests. College days were the best and I enjoyed each day I was there. Apart from studies, there were so many other things that I got to learn here.

I wish to work on long videos and projects. However, since you ask, a specific goal is to contribute to a company like News18, where I believe my skills and creativity can make a meaningful impact.

If you wish to make a career in this field, make sure to brush up your skills. It is imperative to be a learner right from a young age so that you don’t face any hurdles later in your career. Continuous learning and acquiring skills at a young age will not only broaden your capabilities but also foster adaptability.
