‘The world needs young, bright minds to find innovative, sustainable solutions’

At AIMETC’s Annual Prize Distribution event, the Chief Guest urges students to make a positive impact on the society

Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar recently organised ‘Annual Prize Distribution Function’ to recognise and honour 300 meritorious students for their accomplishments in academics and co-curricular activities.

While Major (Dr.) Amit Mahajan, PCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) presided over as the Chief Guest for the occasion, Dr. Rajneesh Kant Sachdev, Director & Head, Food Science and Technology Department, IKGPTU was the Guest of Honour. Accompanying the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour was Sh. Nirmal Mahajan, Member of Board of Governors.

The vibrant and enthralling programme started by invoking the blessings of Almighty. The students presented a soulful Saraswati Vandana followed by melodious singing performances.

Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director of AIMETC, welcomed the chief guests, members of the Board of Governors, and other dignitaries. He presented AIMETC’s Annual Report, highlighting the initiatives, achievements, and progress made in enhancing the quality of education. Dr. Bagga also spoke about the institute’s infrastructure, teaching methodology, academic results, cultural and sports activities.

He further informed the audience, “The AIMETC Campus Placement Programme this year was a huge success as many reputed companies participated and recruited students from both MBA and MCA courses.”

Following this was an address by Major (Dr.) Amit Mahajan, who congratulated the students on their achievements in academics, sports, and co-curricular activities. He recognised their hard work, dedication, and perseverance and reminded them that their success is just the beginning of a long journey. He said, “Continue to strive for excellence, set higher goals, and challenge themselves as success is a continuous journey, not a destination.”

Dr. Mahajan also urged the students to use their education and skills to make a positive impact on society, as the world is facing numerous challenges and needs young, bright minds to lead the way in finding innovative and sustainable solutions.

Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairperson, Apeejay Education Society and Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University also shared her message and motivated the students to pursue their dreams despite challenging circumstances. She shared the success mantra of the founder president, stating that work was worship for him, and encouraged the present generation to work wholeheartedly towards their goals.

Mrs. Berlia emphasised the importance of hard work, learning, and growth to make a positive change in the world. She also stressed that education is the foundation of progress and development in the country, and we should strive to create a world where every student has access to quality education.

Later, the Guest of Honour extended his warmest congratulations to the prize winners. Dr. Sachdev acknowledged the students for their excellent talent, commitment, and perseverance in their chosen fields. He also appreciated the hard work and dedication of Dr Bagga in contributing to the success of the students, emphasising the important role of guidance, support, and mentorship in shaping their academic and personal growth.

The Guest of Honour further highlighted the need for entrepreneurial spirit among youth. “Channel your energy towards honing entrepreneurial skills, as it is the need of the hour,” he encouraged the students. He also motivated them to keep participating in inter-college competitions, to further develop their confidence for their entrepreneurial journey.

The guests then proceeded with distribution of prizes and certificates to the students for their outstanding accomplishments in academics, sports, and co-curricular activities. A total of 120 students were awarded academic prizes, while 33 students were recognised for their achievements in various inter-college competitions. More than 100 prizes were given out for sports events, and around 175 students received prizes for their participation in cultural activities.

Anuj Thapa, a 4th semester MBA student, was awarded the title of Mr. Pinnacle 2022 along with the Best Compere trophy. While, Khushboo, a 4th semester MCA student, was crowned Ms. Pinnacle 2022. At the same time, Saniya Bhasin of BBA 6th semester won the Best Dancer Award while Manya Wadhera of MBA 2nd semester received the Best Artist Prize. BCA student Gulshan, from 6th semester, was awarded the Best Actor 2022 title.

Towards the end of the programme, a medley of different compositions and a mesmerising group dance added to the beauty of the evening. The function reached its glory when the students performed a scintillating Folk Dance.

Dr. Kulwant Kaur, Dean of School of Information Technology, expressed gratitude to the chief guest and other dignitaries for sparing their valuable time to be a part of the function.

Overall, the event was a celebration of the accomplishments of the students and an encouragement for them to continue pursuing excellence in all aspects of their lives.
