‘The teachers here keep the kids grounded in values’

This parent has a different connection with Apeejay Education. She is an ex-staff member of Apeejay School, Greater Noida. Hence, she knew the culture and the environment the school had to offer. Enrolling her daughter here came naturally to her. Meet Shubhra Singh, whose daughter, Myra, has been at the school from the beginning.

In a candid interview, the mother talks about the role the teachers have played in encouraging her daughter’s interests and growth.

How would you describe your daughter’s overall growth since Grade 1?

Since she came into Class I, I have seen her become a confident girl. She wants to do almost everything and take part in the things she loves. The most important thing I have seen in her is motivation.

Is there any particular activity she loves to participate in or talk about at home?

She is an energetic child. She enjoys performing subjects and activities based on performance. She is also doing equally well in the scholastic part. If I talk about her subjects, she is doing well and improving. Her spoken skills have improved over time. Her reading ability and writing have improved as well.

 How does she approach homework or projects given by the school?

Now that she is in Class IV, she has been handling her homework independently. I only help her a little, mostly over the weekend, when we sit together, and I take her revision. That is the only support I give her.

What role have the teachers played in encouraging her interests and growth?

The teachers have helped her stay grounded. In today’s time, especially as she is a single child, children can be pampered at home. They often get things before they even ask for them. But the teachers here keep the kids grounded. They help them learn the right kind of values.

Is there any recent moment or experience that made you especially proud of her?

She learnt how to make robots and how to practise coding. She took the Coding Club last year. She even brought a robot she made by herself and showed it to me. Every single day, when I see her, I feel she is growing. I want her to be a good human being and an intelligent person. As a mother, I see that growth in every moment, every single day. This makes me feel proud of her.
