In a remarkable act of generosity, students of Apeejay School, Model Town, took an inspiring step to help those in need this winter. As part of a heart-warming initiative, the students donated 51 brand-new blankets to the Civil Hospital in Jalandhar. This thoughtful gesture not only provided warmth to those struggling with harsh weather conditions but also instilled a sense of social responsibility among young learners.

The blanket distribution drive was organised in collaboration with the YGPT NGO (Maitri Bodh Parivaar), a group dedicated to community service. This partnership ensured that the initiative was well-structured and reached the people who needed support the most.

The students, along with their teachers, visited the Civil Hospital’s General Ward, where the blankets were distributed to patients and their families. Their efforts were met with heartfelt gratitude, making the experience even more meaningful for the young volunteers.

Support from the medical community

The event was further strengthened by the presence of Dr Gurmeet Lal, Civil Surgeon, Jalandhar, and the Civil Hospital’s dedicated medical team. Their involvement emphasised the importance of community engagement in addressing the needs of society’s underprivileged sections. Their support not only ensured a smooth distribution but also encouraged students to continue contributing to social causes in the future.

The school has always emphasised holistic education, which includes developing a strong moral compass in students. Through this initiative, students experienced firsthand the joy of giving and learnt the value of helping others selflessly.

The initiative highlighted how small acts of kindness can make a big difference in people’s lives. For many of the beneficiaries, receiving a warm blanket was a moment of relief and gratitude, reminding everyone involved of the power of community service.

Building a culture of generosity

The school’s leadership and faculty commended the students for their willingness to contribute to society. Encouraging such initiatives fosters a spirit of compassion and responsibility, shaping students into conscientious citizens who are aware of their role in making the world a better place.

The success of this drive has inspired both students and teachers to plan more initiatives aimed at social welfare. The school continues to instil values of empathy and kindness, ensuring that students grow into individuals who prioritise humanity and service.

Apeejay School, Model Town, has once again demonstrated that education is not just about academics but also about nurturing a compassionate and responsible generation. With such initiatives, the school continues to inspire and lead the way in creating a better, more inclusive world for everyone.
