Mr Apparjeet Singh Randhawa is Depot Manager, Fleet Management Systems, DTC Operations with Tata Motors Pvt Ltd. His daughter Jasmilan Kaur is a Bachelors in Computer Application (BCA) student at the Apeejay Institute of Management and Engineering Technical Campus, Jalandhar (AIMETC).

In an interview, Mr. Randhawa mentions how he found AIMETC to be the perfect college for his daughter and applauds the teaching faculty as well as the college infrastructure and facilities provided to students. Edited excerpts:

Why did you choose AIMETC for your child ahead of other universities for her admission?

As a responsible father I wanted to impart the best possible technical education to Jasmilan. She has a very good acumen towards computer applications. So, after a thorough analysis of the colleges in Punjab I came across AIMTEC as the perfect college for my daughter. It is one of the oldest and most reputed colleges in Jalandhar. Their highly experienced professors assured me a bright future for my daughter when I visited the college campus. Upon seeing the college infrastructure and the beautiful campus I wasted no time in enrolling Jasmilan in Bachelors in Computer Applications at AIMETC. She was one of the first students to take admission in her batch.

Please tell us a bit about Jasmilan and take us through her progress at AIMETC?

Jasmilan is a very intelligent and energetic girl. She is performing very well in her studies. She is an articulate speaker and stood first in several declamation and debates competitions in her school life. She is also very good in drawing and painting. She is an active participant in the college activities which include storytelling competition, poster making competition among others. She also organised the fresher’s party events at the college. My daughter is always engaged in some or the other activity in the college be it related to academics or a cultural event. This made me believe that AIMETC not only focuses on academics but also ensures the all-round development of the student. Jasmilan secured above 8.52 CGPA in her first semester with A+ in several subjects. She is performing very well at the college.

Are the teachers engaging well with the students?

The teachers are very friendly with the students. They are very helpful and hone the students’ personality development skills and IT skills which are essential to excel in the corporate world.  I always keep a check on what is being taught at college. From what I have seen from Jasmilan’s notes, the professors focus more on building a solid foundation of the basics. BCA being a technical degree, the professors at AIMETC give complete practical as well as theoretical knowledge. This impressed me a lot.

What is the best thing about AIMETC?

AIMTEC is not just a technical institute, it helps in developing an overall personality of the students by engaging them in various extracurricular activities at regular intervals. The campus is located in a serene setting, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The well-developed labs are the research hubs for the students to test and apply the theoretical knowledge imparted to them, thereby enhancing their confidence levels. The dedicated placement cell helps in getting the students good placements in reputed organisation like TCS, Infosys and IBM, thereby engaging them in their field of interest from day one after leaving the college.

How has the experience of the online classes been for Jasmilan?

I was always afraid that online education could hamper my child’s future but the professors at AIMTEC made sure that all the lectures were nicely imparted and every child was able to grasp the concepts. It was just like having a college class at home.
