Aparna Khera works as an insurance advisor while her husband Vishwas Khera, is an insurance consultant based in Jalandhar. They are proud parents of Lavanya, a class 11 student of Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, and Pranaya, a class 6 student of Apeejay School, Model Town. In an interview, she elaborates upon the critical role the school has played in helping her children achieve success in academics and extracurricular activities.

What made you pick Apeejay?
Both my daughters have been studying in Apeejay since Nursery. I have a close relative whose two children completed their schooling from Apeejay. Both are well-settled and earn a handsome salary. Also, Apeejay is a reputable institution and has branches all over the country. So, if we had to shift to another city in the future for work, we wouldn’t need to look for a new school. Considering all these factors, we didn’t have to organise prolonged brainstorming sessions to pick the right school for our children. It was an easy decision to pick Apeejay. We had to shift Lavanya to Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg as the Model Town branch was till class 5 then. Now, the school is till class 7 and there are plans to add more classes over the years. Impressed by the progress of my child, almost all my relatives have got their children admitted to Apeejay (laughs).

You have been associated with Apeejay for more than 13 years. How has your experience been so far?
I am fully satisfied with the school till now. The confidence level of Apeejay students is sky-high compared to students of other schools. I am saying this after a thorough analysis. I have seen students of a convent school who no doubt speak fluent English, but they are short on confidence. Lavanya and Pranaya are confident public speakers and are good in academics. They also take part in all the extracurricular activities. For instance, even during the online classes, Pranaya has participated in every extracurricular activity. I have received phone calls from the Principal praising Pranaya. It’s a big honour for us.

Is the school doing a good job with online education?
The school is doing a great job with online education. The classes are going on smoothly and there’s not been an instance where a class has to be cancelled due to technical issues. The students are not missing out on academics. The teachers should be commended for their unflinching dedication to online teaching. Moreover, the teachers are easily approachable, extremely helpful and give detailed feedback on your child. On weekends, the school organises hobby classes for students. Pranaya is learning Bhangra. The school has also introduced Coding from class 5. This helped piqued Pranaya’s interest for Coding and she was awarded ‘Best Coder’ in the recent Annual Day function.

Share with us your memorable moments.
The school organised a drive-through celebration this Republic Day. We were really touched to see Principal Ma’am standing at the gate and welcoming parents and students.
I also want to share another instance. During one of the Annual Day functions, Pranaya was asked to speak in Punjabi and she spoke so well that I received
a call from the studio person who was editing the annual day videos saying
that he found my daughter’s confidence mind-blowing.

My daughters have faced no difficulty in online classes. The school celebrates all events and special days. This helps students learn new things. What’s best is that the principal actively participates in all the activities.
