The Tamil Nadu Assembly passed a bill to exempt students of the state from appearing in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). If the Tamil Nadu Admission to Undergraduate Medical Degree Courses Bill gets the Presidential nod, students would get admissions to UG Medical degree courses based on the class 12 marks. The bill says, “NEET is not an equitable method of admission”. NEET is the all India level entrance examination for undergraduate medical courses.  Tamil Nadu has been in strong opposition to the NEET since its recommendation in 2013.
