Students showcase their talent; win several top positions at an inter-college competition

Participants from Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, participate in a Media Carnival and bring laurels to the institute

Students of Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar have yet again made their college  proud by securing top positions at the Media Carnival event organised by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Guru Nanak Dev University, Ladhewali Campus. The event witnessed a remarkable performance by the Apeejayites as they bagged first and second positions in various categories.

Hitin Khurana, a 6th  semester student of B.Voc Contemporary Form of Dance, along with Pallak, a 1st  semester student of MA Indian Classical Dance, secured the first position in Contemporary Form of Dance category.

At the same time, Kreetina Rai, a 2nd  semester student of MA English, won the first position in the Poetical Recitation category. While, Simran Bawa from 6th  semester BA, secured the second position in the Caption Writing category.

On securing the second position, Simran Bawa, said, “Media carnival was one of the most thrilling experiences of my life. I had absolutely no idea how mainstream journalism works. Participating and winning in this Media Carnival made me realise how challenging and exciting the life of a journalist can be. I would love to participate in more such events.”

Another winner Hitin Khurana expressed, “I feel very proud to be a part of the Apeejay family. The journey of this competition was filled with joy, fun, and most importantly hard work. I personally enjoyed the entire process, right from training to performance. A big thanks to the faculty, I always believe competition makes you grow in your personal as well as professional life. Looking forward to more competitions where I can put my heart and soul and make Apeejay proud again.”

Meanwhile, Kreetina Rai, who won the first position in the Poetical Recitation category, said, “It was a wonderful experience. The other participants had really nice poems. It was a fun day, and winning made it better.”

Media Carnival provided a platform for aspiring students to showcase their skills and talents in various fields of media and communication. The participants from different colleges presented their performances in front of the judges and audience with great enthusiasm and zeal.

The event not only helped the students to boost their confidence, but also gave them an opportunity to learn from each other’s experiences and ideas. The jury members appreciated the efforts put in by the students and congratulated them on their impressive performances.

Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal of ACFA, congratulated the students on their outstanding performance and wished them luck for their future endeavours.

She also applauded the efforts of Ms. Nivedita from the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, who guided the students and helped them achieve such remarkable success.

The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony during which the winners were felicitated with certificates and trophies. Overall, the Media Carnival was a huge success and left a lasting impression on everyone present.
