Recently, Apeejay School, Tanda Road in Jalandhar exuded pride and delight over Ashmaira, a dynamic class I student when she performed at the school’s Independence Day celebration. Her elegant movements and energy-packed performance fetched her the second prize and drew smiles on the faces of one and all present.
Ashmaira started her journey into the world of dance during her early childhood years. From an early age, she was inclined towards Punjabi folk dancing as this art has been running in her family genes. She worked towards perfection with the help of her determined dance teacher at Apeejay.
“When I joined Apeejay, I was wonderfully guided by my dance teacher, who recognised and encouraged my love for performing,” said Ashmaira, who was in LKG back then. My dance teacher is excellent; she always supports me. When she saw that I was interested in dance, she encouraged me to participate in the Independence Day function. All credit goes to her for my success,” she shared and added that her dance teacher is one of the most important people in her life. This proves that the school lays emphasis on the importance of mentorship that will help to mould young talents.
Dedication and Hard Work: The Secrets to Success
Behind the scintillating show lies immense effort and an exhausting rehearsal schedule. Of course, at home, she practices every day to perfect each move. “To perfect my art form, I practice at school during any function and at home every day. My mother encourages me and helps me perfect my moves. She learnt Punjabi dance and she teaches me at home. We practice every day for one hour because I also have schoolwork. I love to dance to old Punjabi folk songs; they are my favourite,” she said.
Appreciation and Encouragement from the School
The school coordinator, Ms Deepti Kaushal, was all praise for this young dancer. “Ashmaira’s achievement is testimony to her latent talent and hard work. We are very proud of her and would like her to continue with her dancing passion,” Ms Kaushal remarked.
The achievement of young Ashmaira at the Independence Day event is not only a personal success, but also a beaming example of the wholesome environment cherished by the community of Apeejay School. The commitment of the school towards the arts and the development of individual talents comes out in the endless encouragement and opportunities that it extends to students like Ashmaira.
