The corridors of Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar were abuzz for a jointly conducted thought-provoking event with Dainik Jagran titled – Sanskarshala. The focus of this collaboration was to promote value education, foster moral development, and strengthen the value base.

The event had a series of activities that aimed at fostering values in young minds. It all began with a moral story reading session, followed by an animated quiz session. The quiz not only challenged the students’ understanding of the story but also nudged them towards reflecting on the deeper messages that the story was trying to drive home.

Speaking about the event, Ms Maninder Kaur, Social Science Educator, and Co-ordinator at Apeejay School Model Town Jalandhar said, “You can excel in academics by reading from books, but without values, you may still fail in life. It’s essential to understand that values hold greater priority than anything else.”

Insights from Esteemed Guests

The event was graced by two esteemed guests of Dainik Jagran – Mr Navin Sharma, Senior Manager-Brand Development and Mr Ankit Sharma, Senior Reporter. Both speakers voiced the need for value-based education in school curriculums. Mr Sharma spoke of the importance of infusing a strong value system in the minds of children noting that initiatives of such forms in practical life play an important role in presenting a responsible and compassionate society.

Adding to this, Mr Ankit spoke about the role of media in highlighting positive values in the social setup. There is a need for an atmosphere where children can be presented with moral dilemmas in such a structured way that allows them to lead lives of knowing right and wrong, he added.

Ms Priyanka Grover, Officiating Principal, Apeejay School, Model Town said that the school does its best to provide all-round growth of students. She emphasised that even though academic excellence is one of the primary requirements, values like integrity, empathy, and respect for others are what make well-rounded individuals from the building blocks.

“An education system based on values is meant to prepare children not just to face exams, but to face life. Initiatives like Sanskarshala go a long way in the holistic development and character building of our students,” Ms Grover shared.

The collaboration, between Apeejay School, Model Town and Dainik Jagran, is a reflection of the power of partnerships in education. Such initiatives strengthen the commitment of the school towards not only academic learning but also to the ethical and moral growth of its students: Preparing them to be responsible citizens of tomorrow.
