Vibrant and full of community spirit, Apeejay School, Noida, celebrated the 78th Independence Day of India most uniquely and on an invigorating note. The school grounds reverberated with brio and patriotism on 14th August 2024 as students of class VIII, along with their equally enthusiastic parents, were part of a special Kite Flying activity.
The sky was a canvas of hues, with dozens of kites flying on the school campus, wherein each one was symbolic of far-reaching aspirations and a free spirit, as posited by our nation. Fun is one, but it turned out to be an event not to be devoid of essence and symbolism. It remembered Independence Day in a manner that instiled values of unity and liberty among young learners.

Safety and Participation: A Community’s Effort
The paramount point of this joyous moment was safety. The students flocked in white and used manjha-free (non-abrasive) strings; hence rendering a safe moment to one and all – be it the participant or the onlooker at large.
Learning how to fly a kite was very much alive through the realisation of a joyful celebration. This along with the cultural tradition of different countries where kite flying is being celebrated added a sense of unity.

The entire programme ran very smoothly and everyone appreciated it. The staff and the teachers had shown deep interest in smoothening the day and ensuring the safety of all. Against this general air and high spirits, the whole community can feel the essence of celebration, laughter, and chatting.
With the success of the Kite Flying activity, one finds all such events are much more about just celebrating a programme for a national holiday; rather, they are very strong mediums of learning and interaction in reinforcing community, culture, and tradition. Apeejay School, Noida, looks forward to hosting more such activities directed toward the fulfilment of value-added student experiences and parental involvement in the school celebration of events.

Its essence, the kite flying activity was not just in the educational value revealed but also in the humane approach taken in sponsoring the kite flying event at Apeejay School, Noida. It is perhaps in the simplest of life’s activities where a ‘teaching moment’ would arise and could affect the students and even the parents.
