‘Sculpture’: Poem by Vridhi Gupta, Apeejay School, Tanda Road, Jalandhar

Started with stones, rocks and even clay
The stones were chiselled in some special way

To make the face of the sculpture, the sculptor lays down a layer of clay
He starts with the head of the model
Eyes, nose, ears and lips in place
And to finish the top
The sculptor gives the head it’s hair, to add some grace
Then he begins with the lower body
Adding all the aspects that make it hard to copy
Finally he starts assembling both parts together
That helps make the carves better
Soon it starts taking its shape
Although it was hard, the carver made it happen anyway
And so the sculpture forms,
With the sculptor happy with his work
Over the moon with the sculpture he’s made
Better than any masterwork!
