Yet again students’ learning has been at the receiving end as the government school teachers are currently deployed in various kinds of Covid-related duties. Parents are worried as the escalation of the Covid crisis, the imposition of lockdown and halting of teaching-learning all went hand-in-hand and has led to schools and teachers loosing touch with the students.

When the early summer vacations were announced in the national Capital, Delhi government directed schools to suspend all online and semi-online teaching and learning activities. However, the Directorate of Education has advised to continue conducting vacation related activities to keep the students engaged.

With ongoing vaccination campaigns across the country, the entire government machinery in Delhi has been directed towards the battle against Covid-19. The government school teachers are deployed at oxygen refilling centres, vaccination centres and dispensaries, at the airport, at hunger relief centres, doing contact tracing, and so on.

Meanwhile, summer vacation for Delhi schools was also brought forward and began on April 20. It will continue till June 9. The lockdown too was announced in Delhi on April 19 and has subsequently been extended three times.
