Schools in Delhi, UP re-open

Published

The summer vacations for students in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh have finally come to an end as both private and government schools resumed their academic activities.

Due to the intense heat waves experienced in several states, the summer vacations were extended for the students. Previously, the schools in Uttar Pradesh had extended their summer vacations until July 2, 2023, due to the soaring temperatures in the state. The initial date for school reopening in UP was June 27, but it was deferred and extended until July 3, 2023, as decided in a meeting chaired by Shri Yogi Adityanath.

Notably, from July 5 to July 31, the Uttar Pradesh government has kick started a special campaign to inspect the schools in the state. It will look into basic amenities like clean drinking water, mid-day meals, and toilets for the children as well as checking other academic activities.

Apart from schools, inspection will also be held in council schools, madrasa, and aided schools. Children in elementary schools were asked to continue their studies and summer homework using the Diksha App. Further, the Meteorological Department had issued a yellow alert in the state due to extreme heat waves expected in many parts of Uttar Pradesh.
