Ishan Walia, a recent graduate from Apeejay School of Management, Dwarka, is a dynamic and results-driven individual with a strong foundation in sales and corporate finance. He is currently part of the corporate team at ICICI Prudential PFM. “My journey has been fueled by a passion for finance and a drive to excel in the corporate world. I pursued an MBA program to deepen my understanding of business dynamics, enhance my strategic thinking, and acquire the skills necessary to lead and innovate in a competitive environment,” explains Ishan.
In this interview, the Apeejay alumni narrates his excitement to start the professional journey and talks about his future aspirations. Read edited excerpts:
How excited are you to start the professional journey?

I am incredibly excited to embark on this professional journey. The opportunity to apply my academic knowledge in a real-world setting and contribute to a leading organisation like ICICI Prudential PFM is both thrilling and rewarding. I look forward to the challenges and learning experiences that lie ahead, which will shape my career and personal growth.
Did you always aspire to work in this sector?
Yes, I have always aspired to work in the financial products sales sector. The dynamic nature of the industry, coupled with the opportunity to impact businesses and economies, has always fascinated me. My academic and professional choices have been aligned with this aspiration, allowing me to build a strong foundation in finance and corporate management.
How did you prepare for this placement interview? What are the key things to keep in mind while preparing for this role?
Preparing for the placement interview involved a comprehensive approach. I focused on understanding the company’s values, mission, and the specific requirements of the role.
This included conducting thorough research on ICICI Prudential PFM; reviewing financial concepts and staying updated with industry trends; practicing common interview questions and case studies; and enhancing my communication and presentation skills.

How did the faculty help you to prepare for the placement process?
The faculty played a crucial role in my preparation. Their guidance and mentorship were invaluable. They provided insights into the industry, helped refine my interview techniques, and offered constructive feedback on my performance. Their support extended beyond academics, fostering a holistic development that prepared me for the professional world.
Where do you see yourself in the coming few years?
In the coming few years, I see myself taking on more significant responsibilities within the organisation, leading projects, and contributing to strategic decision-making. I aim to continuously enhance my skills and knowledge, aspiring to reach a leadership position where I can drive growth and innovation within the company. My long-term goal is to make a meaningful impact in the finance industry, leveraging my expertise to create value for stakeholders and society.
