Prahari Club members trained to promote a safe and drug-free school environment

As part of its continued commitment to fostering a safe, supportive and drug-free school environment, Apeejay School, Saket, organised an orientation and training session for members of its Prahari Club under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The session was conducted for students of Classes IX and XI, with a focus on building awareness, empathy and responsible peer support. 

The orientation aimed to help students understand that creating a safe school community begins with being attentive and supportive friends rather than becoming judges of their peers. The members were sensitised to the importance of recognising behavioural or emotional changes among fellow students and responding to such situations with care, understanding and without prejudice.

Through the session, students were encouraged to develop a responsible approach towards peer interactions. They were guided to observe changes in behaviour sensitively and understand that unusual behaviour or withdrawal may have several underlying reasons. The training reinforced that students should never make assumptions or attempt to diagnose or label their peers based on observations.

A key aspect of the orientation was the emphasis on confidentiality and responsible reporting. Prahari Club members were clearly instructed not to label, isolate or stigmatise any student, nor to spread rumours or discuss concerns with other students. Instead, if they notice anything that causes concern, they were advised to communicate it confidentially to the School Counsellor or the designated Nodal Teacher. 

The session highlighted the important role young people can play in creating a culture where students feel safe seeking help and where concerns are addressed through appropriate adult support. By equipping Prahari Club members with the right understanding and guidance, the initiative sought to strengthen peer awareness while ensuring that sensitive situations are handled.
