The Mathematics Department of Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, Jalandhar, celebrated Pi Approximation Day with great enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity. The day aimed to deepen students’ understanding of the mathematical constant π (pi) and spark a love for numbers through interactive and creative learning.
Under the guidance of Vice-principal Ms Aarti Shorey Bhat and the leadership of the Head of Department Mr Naresh Marwaha, the celebration turned into a vibrant showcase of knowledge, innovation, and teamwork. The faculty team, comprising Ms Meenu Dhingra, Ms Shivani Kalra, Ms Nidhi Sharma, Ms Deeba Duggal, and Ms Geeta, meticulously planned a variety of engaging activities that blended mathematics with fun and creativity.

The event featured an array of student-led activities designed to explore different facets of pi, the mathematical constant that represents the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. Students presented informative PowerPoint presentations, highlighting fascinating facts such as pi being calculated to over 31.4 trillion digits — a testament to both human curiosity and computing power.
Creative posters and vibrant bookmarks reflected students’ artistic interpretation of pi, while puzzles and brain teasers based on the theme challenged their logical reasoning and problem-solving abilities. The energy and excitement in the school corridors made it evident that the initiative had successfully turned mathematics into a celebration rather than just a subject.

Ms Bhat lauded the collective efforts of the faculty and students. She commended the innovative approach taken by the Mathematics Department to make abstract concepts like pi more relatable and enjoyable. “It is heartening to see our students engaging so deeply with mathematical concepts. Such celebrations not only enrich classroom learning but also build a lifelong appreciation for the subject,” she shared.
Pi Approximation Day at Apeejay Mahavir Marg truly became a day of exploration, discovery, and joy — inspiring students to look at numbers beyond the textbook and see the beauty of mathematics all around them.
