The Interact Club and class VI students of Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, organised a heartfelt and inspiring event, Project Kargil Vijay Diwas recently. The event was held in honour of courageous soldiers who exhibited unparalleled valour and sacrifice during the Kargil War. This solemn event also marked the silver jubilee of the Kargil War victory, celebrating 25 years since India’s triumph.

The event began with a moving tribute to the Indian Armed Forces. Students participated enthusiastically in various patriotic performances, each act resonating with deep respect and admiration for the soldiers who led the nation to victory. These performances included speeches, poetry recitations, and skits, all aimed at commemorating the bravery and dedication of the armed forces.

The highlight of the event was the presence of the esteemed Chief Guest, Brigadier Akhelesh Bhargav (Retd), a decorated veteran with over 40 years of military service. Brigadier Bhargav provided a detailed and gripping account of the Kargil War, offering the students and attendees a vivid picture of the conflict’s challenges and the soldiers’ heroism. His speech was not only informative but also deeply inspiring, as he urged the students to imbibe virtues of leadership, resilience, and team spirit, essential qualities for their personal and national development.

In reverence for the sacrifices of the valiant soldiers, the students performed a soul-stirring nukkad natak (street play). The play poignantly depicted the struggles and bravery of the Indian soldiers, evoking a strong emotional response from the audience. Additionally, the Hindi choir’s rendition of the patriotic song “Ae Watan Mere Watan” instilled a profound sense of patriotism and pride in everyone’s hearts.

The event concluded on a high note with the entire auditorium resonating with the national anthem, a fitting end to a day dedicated to remembering and honouring the heroes of the Kargil War. The celebrations of vjay diwas at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, were a testament to the school’s commitment to instilling values of patriotism and respect for the armed forces in its students. Through this event, the school community not only paid homage to the brave soldiers but also reinforced the importance of courage, sacrifice, and unity for the nation’s young minds.
