Apeejay School of Management (ASM) continues to nurture and empower future leaders, with students excelling in academics and professional pursuits. One such success story is that of D. Balaji, a first-year PGDM student, who recently secured an internship with Bajaj Broking. In this exclusive conversation, Balaji shares his journey, experiences at ASM, and the rigorous selection process that led to this exciting opportunity.
How has your experience been at Apeejay School of Management so far? My experience at ASM has been incredible! Initially, I was unsure about adjusting to a new place, but my classmates and faculty members have been extremely supportive. Whether it’s academics or personal challenges, they are always there to help. The friendly environment has made it easy for me to build great friendships and learn from my peers.
Congratulations on securing an internship! Can you tell us more about it? Thank you! I have been offered an internship at Bajaj Broking in the Marketing and Sales domain. My role focuses on business development, where I will be responsible for generating leads and promoting DMAT accounts to potential clients. The exact start date is yet to be finalised due to slight academic schedule adjustments, but I’m excited to begin this journey.
What was the selection process like?
It was quite competitive! We went to another college for the selection process, where we competed with over 80 applicants. The process had two rounds—a Group Discussion (GD) and a Personal Interview (PI). Around 50% of students from our campus cleared the GD round, and eventually, all of us who reached the interview stage were selected. The interview lasted about 20 minutes, and it was a great learning experience.
How did the ASM Placement Cell support you during the process?
The Placement Cell at ASM played a crucial role in preparing us. We were unaware that the selection would include a GD round, but since our faculty conducted multiple mock GD sessions, we were well-prepared. This helped us stay confident and perform well without feeling nervous.
Why did you choose to pursue your PGDM at Apeejay School of Management?
I had multiple reasons! First, my previous college was located nearby, and I was already familiar with the institution. Secondly, I had heard about the excellent faculty and strong industry connections at ASM. I also researched the Apeejay Education group, and its reputation truly influenced my decision.
How has the campus environment helped you grow?
I am someone who usually takes time to open up and make friends. But at ASM, it was different. The 11-day orientation helped me connect with every student in my batch. The friendly and engaging atmosphere made it easy for me to build strong bonds with my peers, making my journey even more enjoyable.
