Arijit RoyWe all suffer from various ailments and keep looking for the ‘Ram baan ilaaj’ or the one stop medicine, be it allopathy or homeopathy. But have you ever tried Yoga? Well honestly, this is proving to be the holistic medicine to cure all ailments, both physical and emotional. Like the mask was to the pandemic, yoga is to the mind in these stressful times.
While the modern lifestyle is doing its bit to push each individual to explore the benefits of yoga, the government is also steadfastly promoting this miraculous exercise form. The International Yoga Day has certainly created a positive environment as we find people across all age groups practicing yoga in a park or at home.
Keeping the aforementioned in mind, Apeejay School, Model Town in Jalandhar in collaboration with Art of Living and Hawk Riders Jalandhar Cycling Group today celebrated the International Day of Yoga. The idea behind the event was to revalue yoga as an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition, to celebrate an exercise form that embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment and brings about a harmony between man and nature. It is after all a holistic approach to health and well-being.
The event commenced with a hearty welcome speech by Apeejay Rhythms Jalandhar Headmistress Ms Nidhi Ghai, as she spoke about the importance of Yoga. This was followed by an enlightening session by Ms Shveta Abrol, Yog Guru from Art of Living. Various yoga asanas, warm up exercises were taught to students and parents, who learnt the importance of the yogic poses. The first 50 early birds in the session also received t-shirts.
The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms Maninder Kaur, Social Science Educator at the school. She encouraged students to practice yoga regularly to remain fit throughout their lives. Principal, Mr Malkiat Singh was mighty impressed with the event. He mentioned, “This occasion delivers a message that alignment of energy, body, and the mind is the key to a healthy being. Yoga has been there with us as part of our ancient culture and it holds a profound relevance in the modern world. As a school, it is our prime responsibility to make children aware about the integration of yoga in their daily lives.”
Further in Delhi-NCR, Apeejay School, Noida too celebrated the 9th International Yoga Day in collaboration with Kidzee. The event was attended by the Principal Ms Ritu Kohli, Vice-Principal Ms Amrita Hajela, Primary In-charge Ms Smriti Samuel, tiny tots from various Kidzee centres and their parents and teachers.
The Principal accorded a formal welcome to all the participants and briefed them about the benefits of yoga and how it enhances our quest for a healthier and happier life. She reiterated that yoga is a communion with our mind and soul.
Mr Pradeep Asthana, Zonal Manager, North, Zee Learn Ltd. also addressed the gathering and emphasised the need to make yoga an integral part of one’s daily routine in order to boost immunity, strength and vigour.
The program began with offering prayers to the Almighty. The participants carried out different asanas, pranayama and meditation under the tutelage and guidance of Dr Satya Trivedi, Dean, Apeejay Centre for Yoga, Naturopathy and Holistic Sciences. Step by step instructions were given for each asana along with their benefits to allow participants to consciously experience all the yoga asanas. It was followed by a perfect display of various yoga asanas by the students of the primary and middle and senior wing. Later, Dr Satya Trivedi spoke about the cultural significance of yoga and encouraged everyone to adopt yoga as a way of life. Certificates of participation were awarded to the yoga instructors and the participating Kidzee centres. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
Similarly, Apeejay School, Faridabad, Sector 15 also joined in the yoga celebrations as the school organised a yoga morning session for students, parents and the school staff. The students learnt about various yogic asanas and breathing pranayama which helped them deal with various stressors in life.
