In addition to the major courses, opting for an elective study programme allows students to explore different subjects specific to their needs and interests as well as help them nurture additional skills. The idea is to provide students learning opportunities with a holistic approach.

At Apeejay Institute of Design (AID) students have the scope to choose electives as per their learning interests. Hence, the Institute organised special elective workshops to introduce students to different subjects and topics.

Students of GDP-I semester had an option to select 3D Sculpture,Gift Packaging and Painting as their subject to learn the skill by exploring the medium, its technique and application. For 3D sculpture, the process was based on moulding and casting. Gift packaging is the act of enclosing a gift using various materials like papers and decoration items. A group of students did creative packaging for products of utility.

While painting is the expression of ideas and emotions. This workshop helped students enhance their aesthetic skills and learned art of expressing the two-dimensional pictures on a canvas. Before painting, students themselve arranged the creative object composition. They applied acrylic colours with a brush and palette knife on canvas . After a brief demonstration of using colours, students painted their fresh and innovative ideas on the canvas . Creative painting liberated thoughts of students and they expressed their feelings through colour and brushes.
