NIPER’s Chandigarh conference spotlights leading AI solutions in Pharma

The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) kicked off its three-day international conference and workshop on “Artificial Intelligence Solutions for Pharmaceutical Research and Knowledge” on October 9, 2023.

This event, organised by the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers’ Department of Pharmaceuticals, aims to promote innovative applications of AI in Pharmaceutical Sciences. The conference has brought together around 300 researchers, experts, and industry professionals specialising in Artificial Intelligence (AI) within drug discovery and development. The inauguration took place at NIPER’s convention centre in Sector 67.

The keynote address was delivered by former Director-General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, Samir K Brahmachari. He discussed “Healthcare Technologies in the AI Era: Can India Propel Forward with a Graceful Descent”. He emphasised that India has the potential to lead in healthcare technologies, much like it did in agriculture, space, and IT sectors.

He also highlighted that digitisation and AI are transformative forces in healthcare, and India has the opportunity to be at the forefront of this field.
