World Environment Day at Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar, was marked with a message that connected environmental care with responsible action. The day reminded students of the need to reduce plastic use and adopt habits that support a cleaner and healthier planet.
This year, the school joined the global call to Beat Plastic Pollution. The message was simple but important. Refuse, reduce, reuse, and recycle are not just words for a campaign. They are habits that begin with everyday choices.
At the school, the occasion also carried a deeper meaning for the NCC Cadets of 2 Punjab Battalion NCC. Before leaving for their nine-day NCC camp, the cadets planted a sapling on the campus. The gesture reflected their commitment to environmental conservation and responsible citizenship.
The sapling plantation was a small act, but it carried a clear lesson. A young plant needs care, patience, and time to grow. In much the same way, young cadets step into training with the hope of growing in discipline, leadership, confidence, and character.

The activity linked the spirit of World Environment Day with the values of NCC training. It indicated that service to the nation is not limited to discipline and duty alone. It also includes care for the environment.
For the cadets, the sapling became a quiet symbol of their journey ahead. As it takes root and grows stronger, it stands for aspiration, resilience, and determination.
The observance also encouraged students to look at environmental protection as a shared responsibility. Every small step matters when it comes to reducing pollution and protecting natural resources. Choosing less plastic, reusing what can be reused, and planting more trees are simple actions, but they create lasting value when practised regularly.

Through this initiative, Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar, reinforced the idea that meaningful change begins with awareness and steady action.
