There are many skills that a school works upon to cultivate in a student. Amongst the most crucial ones, leadership is the skill that always comes in handy. Leadership does not always entail being in-charge of a group or a project, but also requires taking the lead for your own self.  Apeejay School, Kharghar is known for producing leaders. The school is popular for creating, building leaders out of their students. Leaving no stone unturned in this endeavour and in line with this vision, Apeejay School, Kharghar recently organised the annual investiture ceremony.

It is one of the momentous occasions when the school entrusts hope, faith and hands over the mantle of responsibility to the newly appointed school cabinet. This ceremony signifies the reliance and confidence that the school puts in the newly appointed office bearers. The event was presided over by Ms Tejaswini Katdare, Principal of the school.

The Vice Principal Ms Shara Sharma along with the school coordinators inspected the guard of honour, before taking the salute of the marching contingent constituting students across four different houses namely Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire and Topaz. The four houses marched together confidently and it was a spectacular display of unity amongst students.

The programme commenced with the auspicious lighting of the lamp followed by a soulful song sung by the school choir. Ms Katdare inspired the newly appointed prefectorial board with some words of encouragement and motivated them to take on their responsibilities and enlightened the school council about their duties. This was followed by the oath taking ceremony wherein the new appointees swore to perform their responsibilities with utmost sincerity and devotion.

The most awaited moment of the day arrived when the new appointees were conferred with sashes and badges by the Principal. It was followed by a motivational song sung by the school choir which uplifted the spirits of the leaders, encouraging them to pursue their goals.

The newly elected Head Boy and Head Girl read excerpts from The Prefects Companion Booklet. Subsequently, the school choir sang the school anthem ‘Soaring High Is My Nature’ which instilled the feeling of pride and belongingness among all the students. Speaking about the event, Principal, Ms. Katdare mentioned, “The investiture ceremony is a great litmus test to produce leaders. Students will be given responsibilities as leaders and they will find an opportunity through this to not only learn but also to test oneself and improve further. I wish the new leaders all the best for their term.”

In the end, Deputy Head Girl Mahati delivered the vote of thanks and the ceremony concluded with the singing the national anthem.
