In the bustling halls of academia, amidst the fervent exchange of ideas and the pursuit of knowledge, one activity stands out as a beacon of intellectual engagement and rigorous discourse: debating. It is this undying passion for debating that the 13-year-old identifies herself with. Meet Mansi Bilonia, a class VIII student at Apeejay Svran Global School.
“Far more than a mere extracurricular pursuit, debating is a dynamic art form that transcends traditional boundaries, fostering critical thinking, communication prowess, and a deep-seated appreciation for diverse perspectives,” exclaimed Mansi.
This star performer cleared the District level of the National Debate Competition organised by Bal Education Trust. She is one among the top 25 per cent debaters who qualified. Now further, Mansi will be taking part in the State level Debate Competition.
“The topic of the debate was – The Role of Soft Power in Diplomatic Relations. Finally when the results came I experienced mixed feelings coupled with shock, happiness and surprise,” she shared.
The inception of this talent found its bearing during the school level competitions. “I participated in an inter-school debate competition for the first time in class VI. I am also a dance student and have keen inclination in music too. I wish to be an all-rounder,” expressed the student.
She credits the part of her successful journey to her school teachers. “My teachers at Apeejay Svran Global School impacted me positively in every respect. The larger aspect in my success belongs to my teachers since they were always around making special efforts in preparing me for ahead and being a constant source of motivation,” Mansi said.
“I am blessed with the most supportive parents. They have always encouraged me to learn all kinds of art forms and excel in them. I learned that I am beyond my academics after scouting every potential,” she added.
Until then, an aspiring lawyer, Mansi stays unstoppable and unbeatable when it comes to competing with words.
