“I’ll be rich and famous one day, but right now I’m stuck in school with a bunch of morons”
-Greg Heffley, 2007
“Diary of A Wimpy Kid” is a series of books. The series follows “Greg Heffley” a middle-schooler who illustrates his daily life in a diary. The book’s author is “Jeff Kinney”, an international kid’s bestseller. The series is hilarious and interesting, some of my favourite titles were “Rodrick Rules” and “The Last Straw”. One thing that I loved about the book was that the main character “Greg’s” had problems ranging from normal to straight-up impossible! The characters in the book were some of the most memorable persons such as:
Rowley Jefferson: Greg Heffley’s best friend, even though he is over 10 years old, he is very childish and likes things that are a bit too young for his age, such as astronauts and dinosaurs, and he is a singer’s biggest fan, “Joshie” who sings songs that are for six-year-olds. His parents are rich and have been to Australia and Europe.

Fregley: He is a very crazy person, he is always doing weird things that are very weird, from having a booger collection to having scary dolls all over his room (It is not mentioned in the book) His mom is a seamstress, and she loves him, but has no clue what an average kid might wear, so clothes are not very normal.
Greg’s Family: Along with Greg, his family is also essential. Greg has two brothers named “Rodrick”, who is his older brother and “Manny”, his smaller brother. Greg also has a mum and dad called “Susan Heffley”, and “Frank Heffley” Rodrick is always pranking Greg, and also has his band called Loded Diper, which is spelled “Loaded Diaper”. Manny is quite a troublesome brother who does bad things to his items and rooms but doesn’t get scolded by Mum and Dad, which makes Greg a bit jealous. Greg’s mum is a housewife and Greg’s dad goes to work as every average dad does. His dad loves assembling “Civil War Battlefield” and doesn’t want anybody to come in the basement when he assembles the figurines.
One of the things that makes “Diary of A Wimpy Kid” such a hilarious series is his problematic life. The character of Greg, the narrator of the book, grows and matures throughout the series, and always has problems in everyday life. He is not always a likeable character, he sometimes becomes selfish such as in the first book, when he was in the Safety Patrols, he chased children with a worm on the stick. He was wearing Rowley’s hat back then.
Then he was spotted by Ms Irvine, his neighbour. Greg didn’t want to tell the truth that he did it and made sure that he appeared like him. So his best friend had to apologize to the kids, but Greg got a well-deserved punishment and was kicked from the Safety Patrols. And Rowley got a promotion (because he tattled on Greg for what he did).
In conclusion, “Diary of A Wimpy Kid” is a series that has hilarious and interesting themes and memorable moments that have captured the hearts and minds of readers for years, and it remains one of the funniest series in worldwide literature. For me, it is not just a favourite book, but a book that has made me laugh a lot and continue to love the series always.
