Balram Luthra, parent of final year B. Com Honours student Latisha Luthra, works in the zonal licensing Authority, Food and Drug Administration, Punjab.  In an interview, he shares his reasons for choosing the Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA) for his daughter’s admission, the changes he observes in her personality and her future goals. Edited Excerpts:

Why did you choose Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA) over other universities for your daughter’s admission?

ACFA was strongly recommended to me by my friend, Aman Pratap. He teaches Engineering at ACFA. I feel that Jalandhar is the best place for education. Initially, I was planning to send her to DAV University but my friend told me to send Latisha to ACFA only. ACFA has a good academic environment and a good culture among students. They are all well-behaved and disciplined.

Please tell us about your child and take us through her progress at college?

Latisha is a very hard working and enthusiastic child. She is career oriented and is working hard for a bright future ahead. In college, she participates in all the extra-curricular events. She is skilled at painting.

Latisha is always curious to learn anything new. She loves to talk and doesn’t have any inhibitions. I have also noticed changes in her personality since joining ACFA. Her confidence in academics has increased and she has now become more forthright. I am confident that she can confront any problem in life. Overall, she has a friendly nature, so she has adjusted well in college. She has a good group of friends and she is also performing well academically.

Do you think the teachers are engaging well with the students?

Yes, the teachers are putting in a lot of effort. Latisha is well-connected with her teachers. I have seen her talking to her teachers over the phone as well. The teachers support her to participate in every co-curricular activity such as in debates or any other activity. She is always the first choice of her teachers.

What is the best thing about ACFA, according to you?

ACFA has an excellent academic environment. The college culture here is very nice and the students are well behaved.

What is your perception of the way online classes are being conducted?

Latisha was in constant touch with her teachers during online classes. The classes were happening in the online mode just as they used to happen physically earlier, there wasn’t a major difference. The online classes went on for around one and a half years. But ACFA always handled the online classes very well.

What are Latisha’s future goals?

She is planning to do an MBA. She may even consider moving abroad for the same. She is figuring things out.
