‘My first cycle’: Poem by Adithi Anoop, Apeejay School, Kharghar

I yearned for a cycle, for so very long.
I had to struggle to get it along.
Then came a surprise, on my birthday,
And the little me finally got it that day.

In a royal shade of colour,
It was shining purple in power.
With pom-poms and balloons,
Swaying within the blooms.

Easy ride it was, with the tiny-mini wheels,
Very fast I could learn it, and the ease I could feel.
Days passed with my father holding me at the back,
When I lost my balance, I would squeal at him back.

When all of a sudden, a sad day doomed,
My first cycle had its bad day loomed.
With the stand and tyre stuck together
Came to its end to go for another.

Though lost in memories of my first love,
I welcomed the new one with all my love.
Such a memory sure to be for any,
Going tring-tring now for many.
