When Dikshi began looking for a school for her daughter Delisha, now in Senior KG, Apeejay School, Greater Noida, already felt familiar. The family had earlier visited Apeejay School, Noida, and the connection with the same school group brought a sense of trust. Her elder son, Rishaan, now in Class IX, was also studying at the Greater Noida branch, which made the decision easier. The school’s focus on curricular activities added to that confidence, she shared in a candid conversation, among other things.
What changes have you observed in your son since he joined the school?
The biggest change I have personally observed in my son is that he has become more physically active. He is part of the school’s football academy and also plays in the team. The exposure he gets through school competitions has really boosted his confidence. Sports have also helped him develop team spirit, discipline, and a sense of responsibility.
What changes have you seen in your daughter?
My daughter has always been a very inquisitive child. She looks up to her brother for guidance, and although we have to push her a little when it comes to academics, she is always eager to participate in school activities. The teachers give children good exposure, and that has helped her.
Have you seen any improvement in her confidence or communication skills?
She has been part of several stage performances, and that exposure has helped her overcome her stage fear. Last year, she was part of a tableau on The Ramayan, and she also participated in the annual function. At her age, it is not very common for a child to get such good stage exposure, but the teachers make sure that she participates in competitions and activities.
Which activities does your daughter enjoy the most?
She enjoys hands-on experiences and school visits the most. She loves being outdoors, so whenever the school organises a picnic, a visit, or even a small trip within the school, she enjoys it a lot.
How do you manage the studies of both your children?
I am a tutor myself, so there is already a study environment at home. My children know that there is a fixed study time, and they have to sit and study during that period. In that sense, discipline has come naturally to them because they follow a schedule.
Apart from sports, what are your son’s other interests?
My son is more inclined towards the scientific domain. He has scientific curiosity, and one of his teachers has really encouraged that interest in him. My son was also part of an event that happened at India Expo Mart. I feel the teacher has been very supportive and makes sure that if the child has any issue, he is available to help.
How has the parent-teacher interaction been?
The parent-teacher interaction has been good. The teachers we have met have been supportive and have given us genuine feedback whenever the child was lagging in any subject.
