MUN 2026 brings diplomacy and debate to the fore
Hosted by Apeejay School, Noida, the two-day eighth edition brought 500 students together to think, debate and lead
Recently, Apeejay School, Noida, hosted the eighth Annual Edition of the Falcon Model United Nations Conference on July 17 and 18, 2026. The two-day academic simulation brought together more than 500 delegates from schools across Delhi-NCR.
The conference gave students an opportunity to understand global governance, international policy-making and diplomatic processes. Through debate and discussion, they also worked on critical thinking, problem-solving, communication and conflict resolution.
Day 1: Setting the tone for dialogue
The inaugural ceremony began with a green welcome for the Chief Guest, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp and an invocation dance.
The Apeejay School, Noida, Director-Principal, Dr Neha Sharma, described Falcon Model United Nations and Youth Conclave 8.0: 8 to Infinity as a flagship event that had grown into a platform for dialogue, diplomacy, leadership and youth empowerment.
She appreciated the student Secretariat for its dedication and highlighted the range of issues taken up by the thirteen committees. She also encouraged delegates to participate with mutual respect and a willingness to collaborate.
Dr Daliya Sebastian, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist at UN Women India, was the Chief Guest on Day 1. With more than 15 years of experience in gender equality, education, health and social development, she urged students to take part in discussions with kindness and respect.
She also reminded delegates to maintain decorum, build meaningful friendships and value the learning that comes through Model United Nations.
The Organising Committee was introduced through a video presentation. The presentation also revealed the general and specific agendas for the two-day conference. Secretary-General Aratrika Dixit then officially declared the conference open.
The conference simulated thirteen committees. These included the United Nations General Assembly, United Nations Committee on the Status of Women, United Nations Human Rights Council, United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and United Nations Environment Programme.
Other committees included the All India Political Party Meet, AI Governance Summit, Moot Court, IPL Mega Auction, Mock Stock Exchange, Harry Potter Wizarding World and International Press.
Delegates discussed electoral reforms in India, AI governance, lethal autonomous weapons, space security and climate justice. Privacy and biometric surveillance, women’s advocacy in digital spaces, drug policy and crime were also part of the deliberations.
Day 2: Recognition and reflection
The second day continued with committee sessions, debate and negotiation before concluding with the prize distribution ceremony.
Ms Shreya Chandra, News Anchor and Producer at The Times of India, was the Chief Guest for the closing ceremony. A distinguished alumna and recipient of the Spotlight Award for Employee of the Year 2025, she appreciated Falcon MUN for its role in developing diplomatic understanding among students.
She also spoke about the importance of gaining a nuanced view of international relations through informed debate and negotiation.
Executive Board members from each committee received mementos. Delegates were recognised with Best Delegate, High Commendation and Special Mention awards. Gyanshree School, Noida, won the Best School Delegation Award.
The event ended with a ‘vote of thanks’ by Secretary-General Aratrika Dixit.
By the close of the conference, students had gained a wider understanding of global affairs and international cooperation. The experience also strengthened their confidence and encouraged them to approach present-day challenges with empathy, reason and collaboration.
