‘Mother-My Guiding Light!’: Poem by Guneev Kaur, Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg

Who says angels thrive just in heavens?

I disagree, for one with me is really an impeccable being

Antique is she,

But who is she?

The one who’s womb is so cosy,

Possessing those hands infinitely rosy

The procreator who’s your reason behind,

Ideally, this one is ever bound.

A few call her as sister,

There are those efer her as their daughter.

She’s even a wife,

But essentially, she’s a mother, the creator of life

The three letter word mom is way too tranquil,

Yet the job is magnanimously royal.

How does she cook those scrumptious meals,

And treat the patients with utmost benevolence?

For how she is ever busy in bringing those rainbow lights?

And yet always being my mostem for  favourite playmate.

A mother’s love is infectious,

Her counselling sessions are stress busters.

Not to miss those much needed regular scoldings,

Ever and always; she’s just blessing

I thank you mum for your tender care,

All the happy moments are just your grace.

Had you not been there for me,

I wouldn’t have been the girl I turned out to be!
