The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has invited proposals from organisations and innovators to develop technology tools aimed at fostering a trusted Artificial Intelligence (AI) ecosystem. This initiative includes creating solutions for detecting deepfakes, as highlighted on the ministry’s official website.

Under the IndiaAI mission, the Safe and Trusted AI pillar plays a pivotal role in building indigenous tools and frameworks that promote ethical and responsible AI practices. The ministry’s call for proposals focuses on advancing technologies that ensure AI applications are secure, reliable, and transparent. This initiative aligns with the government’s broader vision of positioning India as a global leader in AI innovation while addressing the growing concerns around AI misuse, particularly the proliferation of deepfakes.

Deepfakes, which are AI-generated manipulated media, pose significant risks to misinformation, privacy, and societal trust. The proposed tools are expected to empower stakeholders with effective detection mechanisms and preventive frameworks to counter such emerging challenges. Additionally, MeitY envisions the development of self-assessment checklists to guide innovators and developers in adhering to ethical AI standards.

This initiative is part of the IndiaAI mission’s comprehensive strategy to accelerate AI adoption while safeguarding its responsible use. The mission seeks to create a collaborative ecosystem where government bodies, private entities, and research organisations can contribute towards technological advancements.

Interested entities are encouraged to submit their proposals, contributing to the creation of a robust and secure AI infrastructure. MeitY’s effort underscores its commitment to enabling an AI ecosystem that is not only technologically advanced but also trusted and safe for all stakeholders.

For more details and submission guidelines, applicants can refer to the official MeitY website.
