A good content writer is not merely someone who knows how to write elegantly. The work demands curiosity, patience, observation, and the ability to understand people before trying to speak to them. In a digital space where words compete with endless movement on a screen, the stronger writer is often the one who knows how to pause, notice, and learn.
For many young writers, the first challenge is not language, but hesitation. Content writing often begins with uncertainty, especially when the field feels unfamiliar and fast-moving. What helps is the willingness to observe, attempt, revise, and keep learning from what one sees every day.
According to Nitisha Kaila, an alumna of Apeejay School, Sector 15, Faridabad, and Founding Team and Content Head, Desh Videsh, “I would say confidence, because I knew nothing about this field when I started; I learnt along the way. Everyone is scrolling right today, but it matters whether you do so with purpose or learn from it.”
That distinction is important. A good content writer does not consume content passively. Scrolling, for such a writer, becomes a form of study. They observe how ideas are introduced, how scripts are structured, how captions hold attention, and how a message is shaped for a specific audience.
“With every scroll, if you go to different pages, you can see how people write their scripts. If you write something, you should read it as your consumer. If it relates to you as a consumer, I think it will work with the audience,” she added.
Reading one’s work through the eyes of the reader is perhaps the most valuable trait of all. A good writer asks simple but difficult questions. Will the story make sense to the audience? Does it feel real? Is the opening strong enough? Is the message useful?
Good content writing is, therefore, a mix of instinct and discipline. It needs confidence but also humility. It needs creativity but also close listening. Above all, it needs a writer who understands that content is not written for approval. It is written to connect.
