KVPY discontinued; subsumed under INSPIRE programme
The Department of Science & Technology (DST) has decided to terminate the national fellowship programme, Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY), from this year. The aptitude test was held for shortlisting young student scientists from class 11 to college first year for internships, fellowships and scholarships.
As per a recent notification, KVPY will now fall under the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) programme. The selection will be carried out through a two-tier process which includes screening eligible applications by an internal committee followed by final selection.
Further, the current KVPY scholars will continue receiving their fellowships till completion of the tenure as per existing norms.
