Jalandhar College celebrates artistic excellence at an annual state art exhibition

The 2nd Annual State Art Exhibition 2024, a collaborative effort between Apeejay Education, Jalandhar, and Virsa Vihar Jalandhar, commenced in a grand inauguration ceremony. Reflecting the ethos of Apeejay Education, the event aimed to preserve and promote fine arts, providing a platform for budding artists while celebrating the creativity of established talents.

Dr. Sucharita, Director of Apeejay Education, highlighted the exhibition’s objective: to showcase the diverse talents of artists and inspire others through their creativity. The event featured a wide array of artistic expressions, including paintings, sculptures, digital art, mixed media, graphic design, and photography.

A total of 160 artworks from across Punjab were submitted, out of which 78 were selected by the esteemed jury members, Dr. Jaspal and Mr. Basudev Biswas, for display at Virsa Vihar, Jalandhar. Dr. Sucharita extended her congratulations to the organizing team and acknowledged the contributions of Mr. Alok Sondhi, Mr. Vivek Sondhi, Dr. Neerja Dhingra, and Major General Sr. Balwinder Singh.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by mesmerising musical performances, including a rendition of “Dhoom Machaye Shyam, Radha Sang Raas Rachaaye Bandish” by Tanishk Arora, accompanied by Dr. Sumit Singh Padam on Sitar, Sahil on Tabla, and Sagar on Harmonium, evoking the spirit of the Holi festival.

Recognising outstanding artistic endeavors, the exhibition awarded prizes to deserving artists. Mrs. Guranjan Pal received the prestigious Dr. Stya Paul Award along with a cash prize of Rs. 21,000 for her captivating painting titled “Chanting.” Sukhwinder Singh and Loveleen Verma were awarded the second and third prizes, respectively, for their remarkable artworks.

Additionally, eight other artists were honored for their exceptional contributions to the exhibition. Their diverse artworks, ranging from paintings to sculptures, captivated the audience and earned them well-deserved recognition and cash prizes.

Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal  of ACFA,  expressed her gratitude to all participants and guests, emphasizing the importance of such events in nurturing budding talents and fostering an artistic environment. Dr. Sucharita commended the efforts of the program in-charges, Dr. Anil Gupta and Dr. Amita Mishra, as well as Dr. Manisha Sharma and the stage conductors, for their valuable contributions to the success of the exhibition.

The exhibition, open to the public till 28 March 2024, promises to be a celebration of artistic excellence, offering visitors a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of fine arts and creativity.
