To broaden students’ understanding of emerging career opportunities, Apeejay School, Pitampura, in collaboration with Bennett University, organised an insightful career guidance session on Careers in Media and Journalism for students of Classes XI and XII.
The session was conducted by Mrs Gauri D. Chakraborty, Professor at the The Times School of Media, Chairperson of the Women Development Cell, and a renowned media consultant. With her engaging style and industry expertise, she introduced students to the evolving landscape of media, journalism, digital storytelling, and content creation.
Highlighting the rapid transformation of the media industry, Mrs Chakraborty explained how journalism today extends far beyond traditional newspapers and television. She familiarised students with emerging opportunities in digital media, podcasting, audio entertainment, broadcasting, multimedia journalism, and social media content creation. Through real-life examples and interactive discussions, she encouraged students to view media as a dynamic career path driven by creativity, technology, and communication.

One of the most engaging segments of the session focused on mobile journalism. Students discovered how smartphones have become powerful storytelling tools, enabling aspiring journalists to capture photographs, conduct interviews, shoot videos, and edit professional-quality news stories and reels from virtually anywhere. The hands-on insights inspired many students to explore their own creative potential as responsible digital storytellers.
Addressing the growing challenges of the digital age, Mrs Chakraborty emphasised the importance of ethical media practices. She sensitised students to the dangers of misinformation, deepfakes, and AI-generated content, urging them to verify information before sharing it online. Through practical examples and real-world case studies, she equipped students with the critical thinking skills needed to identify manipulated content and navigate digital platforms responsibly.

The interactive session concluded with an engaging question-and-answer segment, where students enthusiastically discussed career prospects, required skill sets, and future opportunities in the media industry.
The programme reflected Apeejay School, Pitampura’s commitment to exposing students to emerging career avenues and industry trends. By connecting them with experienced professionals, the school continues to empower learners to make informed academic and career choices while preparing them to become confident, ethical, and globally aware citizens.
