In the drive towards building a steady, sustainable and inclusive India, the seventh governing council meeting of the government think tank, NITI Aayog was held recently. The meeting paved the way for synergies towards a new era of collaboration and cooperation between the Centre, States and the Union.

The agenda included crop diversification, achieving self-sufficiency in oilseeds, pulses and agri-communities and implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) in school education and higher education, amongst other issues. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on chief ministers to help develop a clear roadmap for NEP.

Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan also sought state governments’ support and pointed to several steps to be undertaken by states to boost learning outcomes, capacity-building of teachers and in mainstreaming skills.

As India is set to commemorate 75 years of Independence, it is the need of the hour for the states to move towards the goal of ‘AatmaNirbhar Bharat.’
