After securing the esteemed World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) Recognition Status for a decade, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has opened doors for Indian medical graduates to pursue advanced training and practice in countries including the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Thanks to this recent recognition, all 706 present medical colleges will gain WFME accreditation, and any new medical colleges established within the next decade will also receive automatic WFME accreditation.

As per a statement from the Health Ministry, this accreditation will lead to an enhanced global acknowledgment and standing of Indian medical institutes and practitioners. It will facilitate academic partnerships, encourage exchanges, spur ongoing enhancements and advancements in medical education, and cultivate a culture of quality assurance among medical educators and institutions.
