Apeejay Svran Global School, Faridabad, celebrated India’s 78th Independence Day with enthusiasm and pride. The event aimed to honour the nation and the sacrifices of freedom fighters while instilling a sense of patriotism among the students and staff. The celebration featured a variety of activities, including a national pledge, cultural performances, and creative projects, all designed to remind participants of the importance of freedom and the responsibilities that come with it.

The event began with the national pledge, led by the Head Girl, setting the tone for the day’s activities. Following this, the Principal, Ms. Priti Wason, delivered an inspiring address, urging students to take pride in their heritage and contribute to building a strong and prosperous India. Her words resonated with the audience, emphasising the ongoing journey of the nation and the role of each citizen in shaping its future.
The cultural segment of the celebration saw students of grades 5 and 6 presenting a stirring rendition of “Saare Jahan Se Achha,” which evoked a deep sense of national pride among the attendees. Through dance and poetry recitation, students creatively expressed various interpretations of freedom, showcasing their understanding and appreciation of India’s independence.

Younger students also participated in the celebration with equal enthusiasm. Grades 1 and 2 engaged in making tricolour wall hangings and kites, symbolising the Indian flag and the spirit of freedom. Meanwhile, the Nursery and Senior KG children enjoyed crafting the national flag using finger dabbing and hand printing techniques. These activities not only sparked creativity but also deepened the young learners’ connection to their country.
In addition to the artistic and cultural expressions, a General Knowledge (G.K.) quiz was conducted to enhance the audience’s understanding of India’s independence and its significance. The quiz provided an interactive way to engage students and staff in learning about their country’s history and the value of freedom.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, followed by the National Anthem, which brought everyone together in a final moment of unity and respect for the nation.

On the following day, 15th August 2024, the school community gathered once again to continue the Independence Day celebrations. The Principal, teachers, and staff assembled at the school, where Ms. Priti Wason hoisted the National Tricolour. The solemn ceremony included the singing of the National Anthem and a tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for India’s freedom. In her closing remarks, Principal Ma’am emphasised the responsibility that every citizen of Bharat holds as a guardian of the nation’s freedom, urging all to fulfil this duty with dedication.
The two-day celebration at Apeejay Svran Global School was a meaningful tribute to India’s independence, reinforcing the values of patriotism, unity, and responsibility among the students and staff. Through these activities, the school not only honoured the past but also inspired the younger generation to contribute positively to the country’s future.
