This Tuesday, we are delighted to interview this brilliant student artist againManasvi Mittal, a student of Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, Jalandhar, has surprised us once more at the Apeejay Newsroom. With a drawing of flowers done so aesthetically, it takes one 3-4 looks to check if the flowers are real or on paper!

Selected as the Artist of the Week, Manasavi tells us what more she has added in her bag of craft. Read edited excerpts:

So Manasvi, any new art aim in this new year?

Well, I have a lot of new ideas but they will all be implemented after the final exams get over in February. I still draw in between the study breaks though.

Nice! A new art form have you added in your artistic skill set?

I am doing a lot of oil painting on specially designed canvases. Then I have also been drawing with alcohol markers.

 Professional art coaching?

No! Anajana ma’am, our school art teacher, has been guiding me really well and the rest of the things I learn from YouTube.

What do you draw from YouTube?

I have been drawing a lot of anime. I love to watch anime as do most of the kids in my generation. So, it has inspired my drawing too.

Now, do tell us the inspiration behind the flower drawing? How was it so realistic?

Nature always fascinates me . So many times, I keep a flower or leaf in front of me and I try to draw it as realistically as possible. This is the secret!

I heard you have been winning lots of drawing competitions?

I participate in a lot of inter school art competitions, then inter Apeejay art competitions and one recently held at Lovely Professional University as well. And I have won various prizes in these competitions. It feels really great. It fuels me to do even better.

Your school is supporting you well?

I am highly grateful to my school and especially Anjana mam who identified my talent and encouraged me at every step. She is a true inspiration

 Your understanding of art?

Art is anything that soothes your mind. In today’s world when everyone is busy on their social media, I really find it so heartening that I am obsessed about drawing and painting .

How much time does it take you to complete an artwork? What are the common ideas and themes?

It depends, sometimes I am so involved that I have spent the whole night completing my art work. No set themes as such.

 Upcoming artworks?

I am presently working on drawings that I make using my alcohol markers. These drawings come out really fine.

New artforms you wish to learn?

There are innumerable artworks.I wish to explore and learn photorealism and cartoon drawing.

Other hobbies apart from art?

I love reading books and playing keyboard.
