Shivani Malik is an Apeejay School of Management alumnus. She pursued Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing and Human Resource and secured campus placement as an Associate Consultant at Neer Info Solution Pvt Ltd, an HR consultancy firm.
In a brief interview, the Apeejay alumnus mentions how the HR field satisfied her quest to interact with diverse minds and also provides her ample opportunities for growth. Edited excerpts:
What does a day at the office look like?
I am part of a global sales and leadership team here. I am also part of the team India as I execute the hiring for the Indian market. We have clients in the IT industry, in TechMahindra, in HCL Technologies and other companies. Along with these, I do talent mapping and acquisition for the leadership positions for these companies.
What inspired you to join the HR field?
I was always interested in marketing and HR. The field provides you with an opportunity to meet with a lot of people and interact with diverse mindsets at all levels of the industry. I like that exposure and growth. I came to my current company with zero expectations, but the work and opportunities I get here are simply lovely.
Best memories from ASM days?
We used to have online lectures during the pandemic. But I came to the campus once a month for marksheets and library books. Even though the lectures were held online, I was able to make good friends. I met them outside campus as well. I came to college this year for the farewell and it was lovely.
One piece of advice for ASM students?
Go for things, things won’t happen for you. Just do them and have zero expectations. Only then you will enjoy it. If you don’t enjoy it, you can always find another opportunity.
Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
At a different company at a higher position in the same industry. I don’t want to set unrealistic expectations. I know I will grow in this career and be at a good firm. So, I am secure and confident.
