The Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-B), has implemented changes in its admission policy for its flagship postgraduate programme, which relies on Common Admission Test (CAT) scores.

The candidates are shortlisted based on CAT scores, a Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD), and Personal Interviews (PI). IIM Bangalore also evaluates candidates using various parametres, including academic performance in classes X and XII, undergraduate qualifications, and CAT section-wise scores. Relevant work experience is also considered. The institute follows a two-phase selection process, applying these criteria accordingly.

According to the revised admission policy, more weightage will now be given to Personal Interview (PI) round as the weightage has increased from 35 to 40 per cent this year.

While making PI one of the vital components in the admissions process, the institute has reduced the weightage of marks obtained in classes X and XII from 15% to 10 % each in the shortlisting phase. In the final phase, the weight assigned to class X and XII marks has come down from 10% to five per cent.

As per the official notice, CAT 2023 exam is scheduled to be held on November 26, 2023 in three sessions.
