IET India Scholarship: Empowering future engineers with innovation and excellence

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has announced the commencement of applications for the prestigious IET India Scholarship Award aimed at undergraduate engineering students enrolled in AICTE/UGC-approved institutes across the nation.

Scheduled to close on May 31, this opportunity offers the deserving winner a significant scholarship sum of Rs 10 lakh.

Eligibility criteria mandate enrollment in AICTE/UGC-approved institutes or national institutions pursuing engineering at the undergraduate level. Additionally, applicants are required to have successfully cleared all regular credit courses in a single attempt, with a minimum aggregate of 60 percent marks or a 6.0 CGPA on a 10-point scale in their undergraduate studies.

Remarkably, the application is open to both IET and non-IET members, without any age restrictions.

The selection process unfolds in four stages, beginning with the shortlisting of candidates based on their academic records and extracurricular achievements. Shortlisted individuals then proceed to an online test in STEM subjects and technical expertise.

Following this, successful candidates move on to the regional rounds, where they present innovative technological solutions to address pertinent societal challenges in their respective regions. Regional winners then vie for the national title in the final stage of the competition. 

This marks the eighth edition of the IET India Scholarship Award since its inception in 2013. Notably, last year’s edition attracted over 43,000 applications. Previous awardees have gone on to prestigious careers in leading industry giants such as Google, Apple, Boeing, Deloitte, and MIT, with some even venturing into entrepreneurship.

Director and Country Head of IET India, Shekhar Sanyal, emphasised the importance of nurturing and recognising the next generation of engineering leaders in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. He stated, “As technology continues to revolutionise our world, nurturing and recognising the next generation of engineering leaders becomes ever more critical. The IET India Scholarship Award is our way of celebrating and supporting engineering talent.”
