Her professional credentials are impressive and extensive. She is a marital, child, and adolescent counselor. She is an EFT (trained in using Emotional Freedom Techniques) practitioner, an emotional wellness coach, a graphologist, and a signature analyst. If this was not enough to add to her credentials, she is a handwriting empowerment coach and consultant. Meet Prerna Arya, an alumna of Apeejay School, Faridabad, Sector 15.

Tell us about yourself.
I am a Psychologist; a marital, child, and adolescent counselor. I am also an emotional wellness coach handwriting empowerment coach and consultant

What is a typical day like for you?
In my role as a psychologist, I spend my day meeting with clients, assessing their needs, and creating treatment plans. I also keep up with new research and work with other professionals when needed, along with handling some paperwork and scheduling. But my day feels incomplete without spending time with my family.
Why and how did you choose Psychology?
I chose Psychology because I’m passionate about understanding human behaviour and helping people overcome challenges. My interest grew from personal experiences and a desire to make a positive impact on others’ lives. I want to thank my guru and mentor Mrs Rita Kaul ma’am because of whom I pursued and gained interest in this subject. I will always be indebted to her for her guidance and support.
Fond memories from Apeejay.
School life is always filled with fun days and memories. As a student, one of my fondest memories is participating in school projects where we worked together as a team. These experiences helped build lasting friendships and taught me the value of collaboration and creativity.
How were your teachers? How did they guide and mentor you?
My teachers were supportive and inspiring. They helped me by giving feedback, encouraging me to think deeply, and making learning enjoyable. Their guidance shaped my interests and motivated me to reach my goals.

Attributes learnt at school that have stayed with you.
You learn so much at school. They are your formative years so you tend to learn many skills. I’ve learnt the skills like bouncing back from tough times, working well with others in teamwork, and staying curious to keep learning throughout life.
Two things that students can do to reduce stress.
Students can reduce stress by practicing relaxation techniques like deep breathing and meditation, and by maintaining healthy habits like regular sleep, exercise, and nutritious eating. The most important thing is that students should not compare themselves with others as everyone is unique. Believe in yourself, and you will reach your goal.
Advise to present Apeejayites who want to pursue Psychology.
