Her daughter has been studying here right from nursery. Proximity was a major reason why this parent chose Apeejay School, Nerul; the parent wanted to personally pick up and drop her child without difficulty. Another reason was familiarity. The parent was aware of the repute that the school enjoyed, and she had personally seen how Apeejayites built successful careers. That gave Dhanashree confidence that this was a good school for her daughter, Advika Mohane.

In a candid interview, the parent, a master’s in counselling psychology, shares how this school has shaped her daughter’s growth.

How and why did you choose this school?

Besides the proximity and familiarity with the school, I also wanted a school whose culture was close to what we follow at home. I did not want my child to be in an environment that felt completely different from our own values and way of life. This school felt aligned with that.

What was your first impression of the school?

My first proper impression came almost a year after admission because my daughter could not physically attend school during the first year. It was the COVID period, so even the admission interaction happened on a Zoom call. When we finally experienced the school more directly, the interaction with the teachers and staff was very good.

How was your daughter’s experience during online classes?

Even when classes were online, my daughter was very well connected with her teachers. She was only four years old at the time, and the interaction was limited, but the teachers handled it really well. It was new for the teachers too, but the way they managed teaching during that period was very good. My child remained engaged and comfortable.

How has her academic journey been?

Academically, her journey has been fantastic. My daughter has consistently scored above 85 throughout her academic years. She has always received A plus grades in all subjects. Also, my daughter mentions her Primary class teachers as mom at school. That shows how caring and supportive the teachers are at the school.

How has the school helped her develop socially and personally?

When it comes to independence, I believe parents also play a major role. But in terms of social skills and interaction, my daughter has definitely grown well. She can speak confidently, even with people she does not know. Whether it is at a wedding, at the airport, or in any social situation, if someone asks her something, she can respond positively and confidently.

Has she participated in co-curricular or extracurricular activities?

When she was in senior KG, the school had a big drama and an annual day function. That year, she played the main character, Snow White, in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It was a very good opportunity for her to explore the stage. She loves to dance, and she enjoyed the experience a lot. I credit the teachers for identifying my daughter’s talent.
