‘I am impressed by the well-organised layout of this school’

Parents go out of their way to give the best that there is to their children – be it life’s luxuries or something as important as academic excellence. Looking for a good school that aligns with the parents’ cultural beliefs and ambitions can be tedious. When the parent has a transferable job and must search for a good school every three years, the process becomes even more challenging. Meet Mr Summit Khullar, Deputy Chief Engineer in Railways, who was recently transferred from Jammu to Jalandhar.

In a candid conversation, the parent talks about how looking for a school for his daughter, Sunidhi, (in class VI) at Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg proved to be easy due to the supportive staff.

What were the challenges faced when searching for a school in the new city? 

The main challenges included being new to the city and finding a good school near our residence. Searching online and asking for recommendations for a good school in Jalandhar was also a task.

Why did you choose Apeejay?

I chose Apeejay because it consistently ranked at the top among local schools and had a positive reputation both online and from colleagues. Also, when I searched online, I found that it has a long legacy of over five decades.

How did the counselling session influence your decision?

The counselling session was beneficial because we were briefed about the school’s academic and co-curricular activities, sports, and overall performance over the years. The staff was extremely patient and answered all our queries.

What was your first impression of the school?

It was positive, influenced by online sources and colleague feedback. The infrastructure and interactions at the school were satisfactory. While I had been to the school a couple of times, my wife had not. When she visited the school for the first time, she was very impressed with how good the school was — aesthetic and green, with a well-organised layout.

So much so that we also got our younger one enrolled at Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld as well.

What activities at the school will benefit your daughter?

I appreciate that the school has so many extra-curricular activities, especially singing, instrumental music, and sports. These I believe would provide good exposure for my daughter.

Why is the proximity of the school important?

Proximity is important to reduce travel time, ensuring the child spends less time commuting and more on relaxation and homework.

What factors influenced you to choose Apeejay over others?

The deciding factors included the school’s long-standing reputation, its heritage, and its consistent performance in academics and co-curricular activities since the 1960s.
